Jeddah Central Destination is located along the western coast of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, adjacent to the Corniche, approximately 24 km from Jeddah Airport and 15 km from Jeddah Islamic Port. The project is a key initiative under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 framework, led by Jeddah Central Development Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The Jeddah project sits along the Red Sea coast, presenting multiple challenges for construction:
1. Unstable external power supply
The local grid voltage in the project area is highly unstable, unable to provide a continuous and reliable power supply for the construction site, placing stringent demands on the stability and response speed of generator sets.
2. Extreme high-temperature environment
Saudi summer temperatures often exceed 45°C, with even higher ground temperatures, posing severe challenges to the cooling systems of generator sets. Conventional generator sets are prone to derating or even overheating shutdowns under such high-temperature conditions.
3. Tight construction schedule with extremely high demands on delivery speed
Any interruption in power supply could lead to project delays. The client imposed strict requirements on the delivery time of generator sets from order placement to arrival.
To address the unique demands of the Jeddah project, GEPLEADER customized a comprehensive power support solution:
Customized power solution
GEPLEADER's technical team conducted an in-depth study of the power load characteristics at various construction stages. Taking into account the high safety and environmental standards on site as well as the highly unstable external power voltage, they developed a phased power supply strategy.
Specialized optimization for high-temperature environments
Given the extreme heat and intense sunlight in Jeddah, GEPLEADER implemented targeted technical modifications on the generator sets, with a particular focus on optimizing the radiator cooling system. By enhancing heat dissipation efficiency, the units are ensured to operate stably at full power even in ambient temperatures above 45°C, eliminating the risk of overheating shutdown.
In recent years, GEPLEADER has closely followed China's Belt and Road Initiative and deeply cultivated the Middle East power energy market. Since 2012, the company has successfully delivered numerous projects in the Middle East. The successful implementation of the Jeddah project marks another solid achievement for GEPLEADER in the Middle East market and has accumulated valuable experience for the company's continued service to large-scale infrastructure projects worldwide.
